New Year Message
[President Joyce's Message arrived my desk on 1 January - Webmaster]

Greetings from Vancouver! I wish you all good health and a joyous New Year!

We had a very successful Christmas party on 13th December, 2008. Thanks to PP Thomas and his organizing committee. We had a great turn up this year with a total number of 74 participants. The Christmas party has continued to be a family reunion for our current and old members, spouses, children, Rotaractors, and Interactors The party got a wonderful theme - "Love is actually all around", it was a great occasion for all of us to celebrate this festive season; to share our love and care; be thankful to all your family members and friends. It was a casual, joyful fellowship and a great moment to enjoy the performances from Rotaractors and Interactors. We ended the evening by playing a couple of games with a lot of joy and laughter!

We held our Annual General Meeting successfully on 4th December, 2008. We have elected Michael Elyes to be our President for 2009-10 and Stephen Lin to be our President-Elect for 2009-2010. We have confidence in them and I am sure all our members will give them full support to these future leaders who spent many years in the Kingspark family and committed to serve the club in the coming years.

Regarding the coming up events, I would like to highlight a couple of them. The first one is the District Bowling Tournament on 4 January 2009 at Thunderbowl Centre, Whampao. We are proud to have Calvin, AG Peter and PP Ted to form a team to represent Kingspark. Many apologies that I'll still be out of town and not able to give them support. I wish them all the best in the game and hope they will enjoy the Rotary fellowship with other competing clubs.

The second important event is a special meeting in memory of our beloved PDG Dr. Raymond Wong. We have obtained the agreement of Vivien and it will be held in the evening on Friday, 16 January 2009.

Clubs in Hong Kong having strong links with RC of Kowloon East would jointly organize the event and would invite Rotarians from other clubs to attend. The objective of the meeting is to provide an occasion for Rotarians and friends to recall the life of PDG Raymond and to celebrate his many achievements in community service in general and Rotary related work in particular. I would encourage all our members to spare the time to attend this meaningful meeting and to pay our tribute to PDG Raymond who spent his life time serving the community and with a passionate heart in grooming so many great leaders in Kingspark.

Lastly I would like to sincerely thank my board for their dedication and hard work for the past half year.

I wish you & your family good health, prosperity and a happy New Year of 2009.
